Socomal-Hartmann SAS
11, rue de l'artisanat
F-67116 Reichstett (z.i.)
Socomal-Hartmann SAS is the result of a merger between SOCOMAL and Hartmann France.
The company has a warehouse area of 7,000 m² divided into three halls and 800 m² of office space at its Reichstett site in Alsace-Lorraine, France. The property is owned by the group.
Socomal was founded by Heinrich Spahn in 1960 to distribute the German company Hartmann's system series for aluminium windows, doors and façades on the French market. Mr Spahn also had an ulterior motive: the Cold War was raging at the time and the company was founded to secure a location on the western side of the Rhine, just in case. Business was very satisfactory for many decades. In 2001, the systems business of the Hartmann company in Germany was taken over by the manufacturer Hueck from Lüdenscheid. Socomal then took over its representation for the French and Portuguese markets. Furthermore, an agreement was reached with the Austrian company VoestAlpine for the exclusive distribution of their steel window and door systems, a good addition to the core business. Now (2024) another change is on the horizon, as Hueck has been sold to Hydro Building and the Hueck series is being phased out in France. Nothing is more constant than change.
In 2006, Roland Spahn founded the company Hartmann France at the same location. It was responsible for distributing the semi-finished products of W. Hartmann & Co. GmbH on the French market. However, like all Group companies, it is free to source goods elsewhere if this is more advantageous for it.
The operation of two companies at the same location had personnel reasons in France at the time, which are no longer relevant today. In 2024, the two companies consequently merged to form SOCOMAL-HARTMANN. However, their activities have not changed; the Socomal division operates the systems business, while the Hartmann division provides semi-finished products.
